Hi friends! I know, TWO posts in TWO days! Crazy! 🙂 In the spirit of showing you the ministry I’m involved with, here’s a brief video (produced by NAMB) about The Point Church and Pastor Victor Thomas.
It occurred to me today that many of you who are supporting me and praying for me may have never actually seen pictures of Vancouver or SFU! In light of that, here is a brief tour of Vancouver, SFU, and the ministry of The Point Church, as well as several ways to be praying more specifically.
This view never gets old. Vancouver is an absolutely beautiful city!
SFU sits atop Burnaby Mountain. As Matthew says, “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.” Pray that The Point will be a light that shines brightly in the city of Vancouver.
Simon Fraser University – Home to 34,000 students from all over the world.
The college years are such an influential time in one’s life and so many things compete for students’ attention. Pray that eyes would be opened to truth and light, even amidst everything else.
God is growing His church on Burnaby Mountain. The Point church is a community of believers committed to reaching the lost with the gospel of Christ. Pray for the body of Christ to grow and for those already a part to grow deeper in their walk with the Lord. Pray that we would be faithful in making new disciples.
The Point church hosts many community outreach events, including community festivals. We use these events as an opportunity to get to know members of the community, build relationships, and share the love of Christ. Pray for missions teams who will come to Vancouver this summer to help out with many of these festivals and for students who will serve during these events. Pray for new relationships to be built with our neighbors and for established relationships to be deepened.
In the past year or so, we have baptized 10 people! We love having baptism services at the beach (or at the university pool in the winter!). It is always a great time of worship and celebration as a body of believers.
Douglas College is a college unrelated to SFU. It is located in a rapidly growing part of the city called Coquitlam. We began weekly services there in the fall of 2011 and also have weekly Bible study on campus. We will continue our community outreach in this area over the summer and are excited about the growing body of believers there!
SFU Woodwards is the newest campus of Simon Fraser University and home to SFU’s Contemporary Arts programs. The Point Church currently has weekly Bible studies there and a monthly worship service. This summer, we will do our first community festival in this neighborhood, as well as host several BBQs. Pray for the community (this campus is in the heart of downtown Vancouver) and that our church leaders would have wisdom in knowing the best ways to minister to this community. Pray for many to come to know Him this summer.
I hope you enjoyed your tour! God is doing exciting things in Vancouver and around the world, through students at The Point. I am looking forward to being back there soon!
Hi friends! I’m sorry for my lack of blogging these past few weeks! It has certainly been a busy season and I have enjoyed getting to see so many sweet friends and family. I have been overwhelmed at the Lord’s goodness and faithfulness in this season. He has provided so many opportunities to share about what He is doing, as well as many ministry partners who are excited to be a part of it all.
I spent 3 weeks in Northern Virginia and am now in Oklahoma, staying with my sister and brother-in-law. I will post an update about my time in N. VA soon (complete with lots of pics!). For now, here are just a few pictures of my time here in OK so far.

The first weekend I was here, we celebrated my youngest sister, Mallory, at her Senior Art Show Opening. It was a great event and we so enjoyed seeing all of her hard work from the past few years. She is so talented and I’m a very proud big sister! 🙂
The whole family was there! (We missed you Bobby!)
There were plenty of pups when everyone was together for the weekend!
I’ve enjoyed getting to be back on Bison Hill! The chapel at OBU will always be one of my favorite buildings.
One of the perks of being on Bison Hill was that I got to go to Mallory’s final concert with The Bisonettes. It was a great concert and Emily and I were so glad we got to be there!
